The Environment – Our Blue Oceans Campaign
Our ‘Blue Oceans’ Campaign:
The greater majority of these wrecks are not monitored as to their current status and the threat they pose to the environment. Salvocean works with owners and stakeholders, providing survey data identifying potential risks to the environment, and options for mitigation.
We use the latest technology to accurately measure the levels of fuel oils still present within shipwrecks together with assessing the containment tanks integrity; this provides for risk assessments to be developed. Our findings are presented to authorities so as to record, and where necessary take proactive measures to prevent environmental disasters.
We provide these services free of charge as our part in playing an active role in the prevention of pollution in our seas.
Our mantra is low carbon and light touch:
The protection of marine and coastal environments is paramount to us!
Our chartered vessels burn low emission fuels and where possible, utilise hybrid battery technology to further reduce carbon emissions.
SalvOcean is and will continue to change the face of marine salvage for the better, leaving the oceans in a better condition from which we find them.
How we work with Academia:
SalvOcean in collaboration with St Petersburg College (Florida) and their director of STEM education Erica Moulton offer the oceanographic fraternity:
The invitation for academic investigators (scientists/researchers/teachers) to accompany us at sea free of charge during our survey and salvage operations
SalvOcean will provide free of charge laboratory / office space onboard for academic investigators
SalvOcean will provide dedicated operational ship time for specific scientific tasks, however the majority of the investigator’s tasks will be tailored to be accomplished in parallel with survey and salvage operations
SalvOcean will cover all victualling costs for academic investigators, and for use of our onboard equipment (launch & recovery systems, ROV, subsea tooling, etc.) for the handling, deployment and recovery of investigators scientific equipment
Academic investigators will have access to all SalvOcean compiled survey data for use in their research/presentations
SalvOcean will invest a percentage of profits gained from successful salvage operations back into further related academic research programmes
